Hyderabad: The panic in Shapurnagar, Jeedimetla, continued for some time when a man broke into a private bank, allegedly trying to rob the bank using a fake bomb on Friday. He was caught by bank security personnel and handed over to police.
The suspect, K. Shivaji (32 years old), wearing a jacket and covering his face with a handkerchief, came to the bank and began threatening staff and customers, showing fake bombs that he had prepared at home using pieces of sugarcane tied together with red tape. and wires.
He demanded cash at the counter or threatened to detonate a bomb, police said. However, security guards deftly overpowered him and handed him over to police.
Jeedimetla police arrested him and said preliminary investigations revealed that Shivaji, who was in dire need of funds, decided to use a fake bomb to threaten bank employees and extort money. To do so, he watched videos on YouTube of making fake bombs.
