The Hyderabad Police restructured the city’s police stations and created 11 new Vigilante Police Stations, 11 new ACP departments and two police districts.

Hyderabad: To provide better policing services, the Hyderabad Police reorganized the city’s police stations and created 11 new Vigilante Police Stations, 11 new ACP divisions and two police districts.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand said that since the last reorganization nearly 30 years ago, there has been a need to restructure the police station as the city’s population has grown.
“A committee of senior police officers with three decades of experience was formed to study and finalize the plan. Over a period of about six months, officers visited the various districts before finalizing the jurisdiction of the new and old police stations restructuring,” he said.
The city will now have seven zones – East, West, South, North, Center, Southeast and Southwest (all new zones) which will be led by a DCP-level official. The last time, in 2002, the Central District was established in Hyderabad, incorporating some of the police stations in the East, West and North Divisions into the Central District.
However, for the first time in the past 30 years, the city has undergone a major reorganization of the police department. “The new police station will help to further improve policing in the city. Officers can work more efficiently and there will be better oversight by the ACP and DCP,” said CV Anand.
Hyderabad has also set up some new traffic police stations to better manage traffic.
