Patna: An untried prisoner married his girlfriend at the District Court complex in Sitamari, Bihar state, on Saturday.
A bride named Archana Kumari (23) arrived at a temple inside the courthouse with a jar of cinnabar and “saat phere” with handcuffed Raja Kumar (28). The wedding took place under the direction of the court.
Raja and Archana have been dating since 2016 and they eloped in November 2022. Archana’s father filed an FIR with the Bargania Police Station charging Raja with kidnapping. Police arrested Raja on November 6, 2022 and he was sent to prison.
However, Archana somehow manages to convince her family to get married. She also persuaded Raja’s parents and applied to the Magistrates Court in this regard. After considering her application, the court approved the wedding.
Although Raja had to return to prison after marriage, Archana’s family is filing an application with the district police to have the FIR revoked.
