Nizamabad Agriculture Ministry prepares for Vanakalam season

Nizamabad: The regional agriculture ministry is preparing for the Vanakalam (Kharif) season as the southwest monsoon is likely to sweep the state from June 7-15.

The authorities are making the necessary arrangements to ensure sufficient stocking of seeds and fertilizers for the Vanakalam season. The department estimates 537,000 acres will be under cultivation this crop season.

The planting area of ​​rice in the whole region is estimated to be 417,000 mu, and the planting area of ​​corn and turmeric is 32,185 mu and 23,722 mu respectively. In addition, soybean acreage will reach 58,715 acres.

“As directed by the state government, we have formed a working group with the police station and the Telangana State Seed and Organic Certification Authority (TSSOCA) to curb the threat of fake seeds in the area,” said Nizamabad District Agriculture Officer (DAO) R Tirumala Prasad explain.

Task force teams will conduct unannounced inspections of seed stores and warehouses to check the quality of the seeds. They will also educate farmers on the importance of using quality seeds and fertilizers.

The Agricultural Extension Officer (AEO), in coordination with relevant department officials, will organize awareness programs for farmers twice a week on various farming and related activities at 106 Rythu Vedikas in the district.
