Hyderabad: Ride-hailing giant Uber will launch its Uber Green electric car service in India in June. The service will initially be available in three cities: New Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
Uber Green offers riders the option to book an all-electric, zero-emissions vehicle. The service is available in more than 100 cities in 15 countries around the world.
To launch Uber Green in India, Uber has partnered with several fleet service providers, including Lithium Urban Technologies, Everest Fleet Private Limited and Moove. The partners will help Uber roll out 25,000 electric vehicles in seven cities.
They also partnered with Zypp Electric to provide 10,000 electric motorcycles. Uber has partnered with the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) to provide loans of up to Rs 1,000 crore to promote the use of electric and compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles.
Uber is working with bp pulse, Jio-bp and GMR Green Energy in an effort to improve access to electric vehicle charging stations.
The launch of Uber Green is a major step towards reducing air pollution in India. Electric vehicles produce zero emissions, help improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Uber is committed to making its platform more sustainable, and the launch of Uber Green is an important milestone in that journey. The company plans to expand Uber Green to other cities in India in the coming months.
