Hyderabad: While many people associate Hyderabadi cuisine with the cafes around Charminar, the bustling Nampally area is also a foodie’s paradise, with something for every taste, from succulent kebabs to the famous Iranian chai.
To share all these stories about food and history, Sibghat Khan of Deccan Archives and Naveen of Hyderabad Walking Company organized a Big Fat Hyderabadi Food Walk. A group of history and food lovers visit the 1.2km stretch of Nampally and Mallepally, the neighborhood and the best food outlets.
During the walk, the group explored a total of seven undiscovered restaurants in the city. The original destination was Alhamdulillah Hotel, where the group happily tasted delicious Seekh kebabs and mouth-watering Haleem. Interestingly, Haleem is served here year-round. Sibghat then shared a little history about Mallepally, which was built after the Musi flood.
The group then visited Al Arabia Shawarma, where they tasted shawarma and enjoyed a delicious lamb chakna at a restaurant called Moin Chakna. After some more history, the group turned to the famous Khowa Jalebi stall for Burhanpuri Jalebi and later to Al-Barkat for fish dishes.
The group ended their culinary tour at Al-Ameen Chai, after enjoying Mozambique Juice and Mulberry malai at Milan Juice Center where they offered the famous Irani Chai and 7 Star Pan (Dot) Com right in front .
