Special drug rehabilitation centers established in government general hospitals in 33 districts of Telangana
Hyderabad: The state health department on Monday announced the launch of drug rehabilitation centers in all 33 districts of Telangana. Telangana Medical Education (DME) Director Dr K Ramesh Reddy has established special drug rehabilitation centers in government general hospitals in 33 districts of Telangana that are already operational and provide free mental healthcare facilities to individuals, said.
The detoxification center is part of the Department of Psychiatry of the Government General Hospital and provides a range of services to patients, including inpatient treatment in dedicated beds reserved for such patients.
Most of the people in treatment are those struggling with alcoholism, substance addictions like tobacco, or even drugs like marijuana. Addiction rehab centers are attached to general hospitals to ensure that patients can take advantage of allied health care facilities in other medical departments. People who enter a drug rehab center can receive therapy, yoga, counseling and hospitalization.
Initially, the state government activated drug rehabilitation facilities in six teaching hospitals including Institute of Mental Health, Erragadda, Gandhi Hospital, Kakatiya Medical College Warangal, RIMS Adilabad and Government General Hospital in Nizamabad and Mahabubnagar. In the past few months, the state health department has managed to add drug rehabilitation centers in all government polyclinics in 33 districts of Telangana.
