Hyderabad: An alert Railway Protection Force (RPF) officer saved the life of a female passenger who fell while boarding a moving train at Begumpet railway station.
The Lingampalli-Falaknuma MMTS train arrived at the station at around 9am on Tuesday amidst the usual hustle and bustle of the station.
A female passenger, Saraswati, hurried to board the speeding train, but lost her balance and was in danger of falling into the gap between the train and the platform.
Patriotic Front Constable K Sanitha, who was on duty on the platform, showed remarkable composure and rushed to rescue the passenger, pulling her to safety. Other passengers on the platform also stepped forward to help.
Sanitha has won praise for her quick response and a video of the incident has gone viral. Sanitha from Nalgonda District was appointed to the Railway Protection Force in 2020 and is serving at Begumpet Railway Station.
RPF personnel risked their lives during the “Jeevan Raksha” mission to save two passengers in 2023, the RPF said. The RPF also asks passengers to report any unsafe behavior observed at the railway station or train to the nearest RPF officer or via the railway helpline number 139.
