IPL 2023 playoffs breaks all records, viewership up 44% from previous year
Mumbai: Disney Star, the official television broadcaster of the IPL, has announced a ground-breaking achievement that has brought the biggest playoffs in the history of the league along with unprecedented viewership and viewership.
“IPL 2023 playoffs broke all records with a staggering 44% viewership compared to the previous year (data is for M15+ including OOH), surpassing the highest viewership playoffs previously recorded by IPL 2020. This remarkable achievement demonstrates the support and passion of the unwavering national cricket fans and cements the broadcaster’s position as India’s premier sports broadcaster,” read a statement.
The clash between the Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians (Qualifier 2) left an indelible mark on the world of cricket in a thrilling clash that unfolded during the playoffs. The clash saw an unprecedented peak of 6.1 million TV concurrents (the figure is 2+ U+R, including OOH), attracting fans from all over the country. Not only did the game garner a lot of attention, but it soared to new heights, becoming the most-watched playoff game of all time. The fierce competition and the wonderful performance of the players kept the audience in a state of tension throughout the game.
“The unprecedented success of the IPL 2023 playoffs was further highlighted by the huge TV viewership. The live broadcast of IPL 2023 amassed a staggering 49.6 (figure is 2+ U+R including OOH) million viewers and 409.02 billion minutes (figure is 2+ U+R, including OOH) to the final, reaching unprecedented heights and setting a record for any IPL season.”
