Hyderabad: Beer sales in Telangana recorded a record high of 7.44 crore bottles sold in May, beating the previous record of 7.2 million bottles sold in May 2019. Rough estimates suggest that nearly 2.4 million bottles of beer were sold per day in May.
A total of 3 million cases of beer were sold in the state, officials said, a figure that rose slightly during the summer, but this May was different. The regions of Rangardy, Karimnagar and Nalgonda lead the way in terms of beer sales, with Hyderabad alone accounting for around 40% of the total beer consumption in the state.
The state has seven breweries with an installed beer production capacity of 6.7 million cases per month. Another interesting fact is that beer sales have been increasing year over year for the past decade, except for two years due to covid-19.
