Angels: The legal battle between ex-couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie seems never-ending.
According to People, Pitt is now suing Jolie for selling part of the vineyard she shared in France without consulting him.
The Academy Award-winning actor has claimed in new court documents that the association poses “an existential threat to the business” due to the new partial owner’s ties to Russia amid the ongoing war in Ukraine.
The first amended complaint against the winery, filed in February 2022, seeks declaratory relief, forfeiture and damages, and pre-judgment interest for defendants’ alleged tortuous interference with contractual relationships.
In legal documents obtained by People, the complaint says Jolie sold her interest in the property to Tenute del Mondo, whose parent company is the spirits maker Stoli Group, which was “owned by Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler. control”.
“Shefler’s Russian-affiliated spirits group has been the subject of multiple boycotts related to Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine and his homophobic legislative agenda,” the lawsuit says. “While Shefler may be attempting to whitewash his reputation by working with one of the most recognizable and popular actors in the world, the relationship with Shefler and Stoli jeopardizes the reputation of the business Pitt has carefully built with Perrin, with whom Pitt has worked Connecting himself and his image so closely and carefully.”
Pitt reportedly learned of Jolie’s alleged putative sale through a press release.
The alleged sale was “unlawful,” the lawsuit says, due to a breach of a “contractual agreement” between Jolie and Pitt that “their interests may not be sold separately without the consent of the other party.” . Pitt and Jolie took a controlling interest in Miraval in 2008. They started selling their roses in March 2013 and were married at the castle in August 2014. Pitt claims that when Jolie filed for divorce in 2016, they both agreed not to sell their Miraval and share it without the other’s permission, according to US Magazine.
However, in 2021, the Girl Interrupted star sold part of her business to Tenute del Mondo.
In September 2016, the Gia actress filed for divorce from Pitt after two years of marriage and 12 years together.
