With Meta Verified in India, you get a verified badge confirming that you are the real you and that your account is authenticated with a government ID

New Delhi: Meta on Wednesday brought its verified subscription package on Instagram and Facebook to India, which includes a verified badge to verify accounts using government IDs, proactive account protection and access to account support.
Meta Verified is available on Instagram or Facebook in India, and a monthly subscription costs Rs 699 on iOS and Android.
In the next few months, the company will also introduce an online purchase option of Rs 599 per month.
“We will also retain the verification badge for accounts that were verified prior to the introduction of Meta Verified,” the social network said in a statement.
With Meta Verified in India, you get a verified badge confirming that you are the real you and that your account is authenticated with a government ID.
Users will also have “more protection against impersonation through active account monitoring for impostors who may be targeting a growing online audience”.
It will also help users with common account issues.
Support is currently only available in English, but will expand to Hindi in the coming months, the company said.
“We want to build a subscription service that is valuable to everyone, including creators, businesses, and our entire community. As part of this vision, we’re improving what it means to be a verified account in the app,” the company said .
To be eligible, accounts must meet minimum activity requirements, such as previous posting history, and applicants must be at least 18 years old.
“Applicants are then required to submit a government ID that matches the profile name and photo of the Facebook or Instagram account they are applying for,” the company added.
A Meta Verified subscription will include active monitoring for account impersonation.
Businesses are not currently eligible to apply for Meta Verified.
