Warangal: Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP) in Warangal will witness a significant increase in employment opportunities as the state government continues its efforts to attract major companies to set up textile sectors in the park.
Leading the way is South Korea’s prominent textile giant Youngone Corporation, which plans to lay the foundation stone for its factory on June 17, with IT and Industry Minister KT Rama Rao as the chief guest.
The Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) has allocated 298 acres of land to Youngone Corporation. The company has ambitious plans to invest Rs 8.4 billion in the project, which is expected to directly create more than 11,700 jobs,” TSIIC’s ZM R Santosh Kumar told Telangana Today.
In addition, an estimated 10,000 people will benefit from the indirect employment opportunities brought about by the establishment of the factory. Youngone Corporation specializes in synthetic jackets, boots, tracksuits, and other apparel commonly used for hiking.
Another major player in the textile industry, Kerala’s Kitex Group, is also set to start operations at KMTP. Kitex Group is investing Rs 1,000 crore and aims to create 1,000 direct jobs from November this year. Construction work is currently underway on their 177-acre allotment within the park. KMTP has witnessed the successful launch of the first phase of the Ganesha Ecosphere project last May. The project involves a PET bottle recycling company that has invested around Rs 3.50 crore to manufacture recycled polyester fibre, yarn and other products.
The two facilities occupy more than 50 acres and adhere to strict standards set by the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) for recycling PET bottle waste into high-quality products. Currently, the plants support 400 direct jobs and are expected to provide more than 1,000 direct jobs once fully operational, while consuming approximately 60,000 tonnes of waste PET bottles per year.
“Apart from these large businesses, 40 individual weavers have submitted applications to TSIIC expressing their interest in establishing small industries in KMTP. Impressed with the support measures put in place by the state government, many of these weavers have returned home , including Solapur and Biwandi, the well-known textile business centers in Maharashtra. After a thorough review, TSIIC will allocate plots ranging from 500 to 700 yards to applicants from a total of 182 available plots. These units will be Established under the Micro, SME category, further increasing employment opportunities in the region,” said the regional manager.
A Zero Liquid Discharge Public Treatment Plant (ZLDCTP) at a cost of Rs 850 crore is under construction in the Textile Park. As of now, the project is 15% complete. Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) is an innovative solution designed to completely eliminate system liquid discharge. The ZLDCTP is designed to minimize the volume of wastewater requiring further treatment, treat wastewater economically and produce a purified water stream suitable for reuse,” he added.
