Warangal thrives on job creation and industrial growth

Warangal: Since the inception of Telangana, the former Warangal area has seen significant development and employment opportunities have increased substantially. Thanks to the Telangana Industrial Project Approval and Self-Certification System (TS-iPASS), a total of 1,825 major industrial units have been established in the region, attracting a sizeable investment of Rs 5,960 crore.

Warangal district collector P Pravinya highlighted the positive impact of this industrial growth, emphasizing that 709 industries have been licensed with TS-iPASS. This remarkable feat brought 18,366 jobs to the region and prosperity to countless families.

The state government established Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal to revolutionize the textile and apparel industry by providing state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and integrated common infrastructure. Kakatiya Mega Textile Park covers an area of 1190 acres and is being developed and implemented in phases. Kakatiya Mega Textile Park marks a major milestone in the region’s industrial development and reinforces the government’s commitment to create an enabling environment for the growth of the textile and apparel industry. Once fully operational, it could create around 100,000 jobs. Notably, the upcoming Rs 1,000-crore Kitex property aims to create jobs for 10,000 people, further boosting the region’s economic prospects.

It may be noted here that Industry and IT Minister KT Rama Rao has laid the foundation stone for the Rs 1,600 crore Kitex Garments manufacturing plant at Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal in May 2022. He also inaugurated two divisions of Ganesh Group with an investment of Rs 550 crore. The three units will create jobs for about 16,000 people.

Meanwhile, under the Telangana Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Advancement (TIDEA) scheme, subsidies totaling Rs 4.8 lakh have been provided to 19 industrial units. In addition, a subsidy of Rs 9 million has been allocated to support 308 SC units while Rs 200 crore through the Telangana Entrepreneurship Rapid Incubation and Development Program (TPRIDE) has been allocated to assist 751 ST units.

Pravinya further disclosed the allocation of Rs 3.8 lakh to help 10 disabled persons in the industrial and service sectors. Collector Pravinya lauded the region’s success in attracting industry, attributing it to the staunch support of the Telangana government led by dynamic Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Industry Minister KT Rama Rao.

Apart from industrial growth, Warangal District has also demonstrated its commitment to the wellbeing of the people. The ‘Netanna ku Cheyutha’ scheme has registered 3,000 handloom workers to ensure their well-being. A deposit of Rs. 340 crore has been allocated for this purpose and a financial support system has been set up to help the weavers’ families in case of emergency by providing Rs. 500,000 per person. Currently, 1,400 people in the region have registered under the ‘Netanna ku Bhima’ scheme.
