San Francisco: In Skype’s latest update, Microsoft has incorporated AI capabilities and enhanced translation capabilities into the platform.
An updated version of Skype (8.99.76.102 for Insiders) includes several new features as well as common reliability fixes.
Users can now access accurate, real-time weather conditions for their location directly from Skype on desktop platforms, and for more detailed information, they can click on the weather icon to open the comprehensive weather web page.
The new update will enable users to distinguish between Skype-to-Skype calls and Skype-to-phone calls.
“Enjoy the clear difference between Skype to Skype and Skype to Phone. Initiate Skype to Skype calls and easily create Skype links in the Calls tab. The Phones tab gives you easy access to your Skype Number, Credit Balance , available international phone subscriptions and Skype credit top-up options,” Microsoft said in a blog post.
Additionally, the new update brings interactive Bing chat prompts to Skype.
Click now on any Bing chat tip in Bing 1:1 Chat to dive into the Bing conversation and submit the selected tip.
Prompts are randomly rearranged after each interaction and each time the Skype client starts, ensuring a different experience every time. These are available on all platforms.
The new release also brings Bing Toolbox to the platform.
“Find Bing Toolbox in the upper right corner of a Bing 1:1 chat, with examples of various Bing usage scenarios such as education, social media, travel, creativity, entertainment, language, sports, technology, and more. Bing Toolbox is available on all platforms used on the Internet,” the company said.
New users can now access Bing Chat instantly, with no waiting list holding them back.
The company has also simplified the “Contacts” tab for users, with Skype contacts first for easy access, followed by your other contacts. This change applies to all platforms.
