Minister P Ajay Kumar laid the foundation stone for the gram panchayat building at Raghunathapalem mandal in Khammam district on Thursday.
canman: Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar says the villages in Telangana have completely changed the development works and plans executed by the state government.
He said the government has strong determination to develop the village and make progress in all areas.
Ajay Kumar laid the foundation stone for the gram panchayat buildings, each of which will cost Rs 20 lakh each, in a ceremony at Harya thanda at the district’s Raghunathapalem mandal on Thursday at 6thandas in Mandal as part of Telangana Palle Pragathi Nosawam.
In his speech, the minister said the development in Telangana was unlike any other in the country.
“A lot of progress has been made in the past eight years. With pending projects, canal repairs and cisterns completed, villages have sufficient water for drinking and farming. People who migrated to urban areas to earn a living due to increased employment opportunities are returning their hometown,” he said.
Ajay Kumar said the government has upgraded thandas to gram panchayats and empowered tribes to manage their thandas. He explained that in the Raghunathapalem mandal alone, 20 thandas were upgraded to gram panchayats and there are now 37 gram panchayats in the mandal.
Thandas provide all necessary infrastructure like electricity, roads, schools, drainage, potable water through Mission Bhagiratha. The minister informed that to overcome the low voltage problem, a substation has been built for two or three villages.
Gautham, Deputy District Collector, said new roads were laid in remote areas and internal CC roads were built in all villages. Every village has tractors, tankers, Palle Prakruthi Vanams, Vaikunta Dhamams, isolation sheds etc.
The villages, elected representatives and sanitation workers of Sarpanch were congratulated. Bhadrachalam ITDA PO Gautham Potru, DRDO Vidya Chandana, DPO Appa Rao and others were present.
