Hyderabad: Residents of the state are currently enduring an intense heatwave with temperatures topping 44.5C as the monsoon faces a delay. According to the Andhra Pradesh State Development Planning Association (APSDPS), the highest temperature recorded in the state was 44.5 degrees Celsius at the Dwaraka Tirumala mandal in Eluru. In Eluru district, Kamavarapukota mandal and Kurichedu mandal in Prakasam district, the daytime maximum temperature reached 44.2 degrees Celsius while the nighttime minimum temperature was 32.1 degrees Celsius. Ibrahimpatnam in NTR district and Gopalapuram mandal in East Godavari district recorded a daytime temperature of 44.1 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, severe hail hit 23 mandals in Anakapalli district and eight mandals in Visakhapatnam district on Thursday. In addition, humidity levels in the atmosphere have decreased.
India’s Meteorological Department said in its weather forecast that “severe heat waves may occur in isolated areas of north coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and south coastal Andhra Pradesh. Rayalaseema may experience hot, humid and uncomfortable weather. Accompanied by lightning Thunderstorms of 30-40 km/h may occur in remote areas over NCAP, Yanam, SCAP and Rayalaseema Gale.”
