Samalkota mandal in Kakinada district records high temperature of 46.8 degrees Celsius on Friday

Amaravati: The highest temperature in Andhra Pradesh was 10 degrees Celsius above normal, with Samalkota mandal in Kakinada district recording a high of 46.8 degrees Celsius on Friday. The lowest temperature in the area was 31 degrees Celsius. People in the state are experiencing extreme heat waves.
Karapa mandal in Kadapa district recorded 46.7 degrees Celsius, while Sankhavaram and Kajuluru mandals in the same district recorded 46.4 degrees Celsius. Kothavalasa mandal in Vizianagaram district and Gopalapuram mandal in East Godavari district recorded 46.3 degrees Celsius.
Nearly 45 of the state’s cities saw temperatures above 45C during the day, while many recorded lows in the 30C.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its weather forecast, “Severe heat waves are likely to occur in many places in northern coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and southern coastal Andhra Pradesh. Heat waves are likely to occur in many places over Rayalaseema.”
IMD recommends that people avoid heat exposure, stay hydrated, and wear lightweight clothing.
