Hyderabad: The state government will now celebrate Sardar Sarvai Papanna’s birthday and death anniversary as a state government function.
In the order issued here, the BC Welfare Department was directed to celebrate Sardar Sarvai Papanna’s Jayanthi on August 18 and his Vardhanti as a state function on April 2.
Sardar Papanna was considered a Robin Hood figure in several oppressed regions of the 17th century, and his heroics against the Mughals, especially Aurangzeb, are part of Telangana folklore.
