Boston: Five missing crew members are believed to be dead, the company leading the Titan submersible trip said.
OceanGate Expeditions said Thursday that its pilot and CEO Stockton Rush, along with passengers Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman Dawood, Dawood, Hamish Harding and Paul-Henri Nargeolet are “sadly missing”.
When OceanGate announced the “casualties” in a statement Thursday, it gave no details or how officials knew the crew had been killed. The ship’s 96-hour oxygen supply could end early Thursday.
Since 2021, the company has been documenting the decay of the Titanic and its surrounding underwater ecosystem through annual voyages.
