Mumbai: Mumbai Police said on Friday that an unidentified person called the police control room claiming that a bomb would go off in the Andheri and Kurla areas of Mumbai at 6:30 pm on June 24.

Mumbai Police said: “At 10am yesterday, the caller made a call to the Police Control Room claiming that there will be bomb explosions in the Andheri and Kurla areas of Mumbai at 6.30pm on June 24.”

Not only that, but the caller claimed that there will be a bomb explosion in Pune too. He also added that he needed 200,000 rupees, which would allow him to stop the explosion, the police said.

“The caller said that there is going to be a bomb blast in Pune as well and he is doing it himself, for which he has been given Rs 2 crore and if he gets another Rs 200,000 then he will go to Malaysia and his men,” the police said.

The official said investigations revealed that the caller was from Jangpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Cases have been registered with various divisions of the IPC and further investigations are ongoing.

“The Mumbai Police has opened a case under Sections 505(1)(B), 505(2) and 185 of the IPC and is investigating the matter,” the officer said.
