Hyderabad: The Seed Company for Children and Human Rights Organization (ECHO) organized a walkathon in the necklace on Sunday to mark World Day Against Child Labour.
The campaign, which aimed to raise awareness of child labor in the seed industry and promote ethical practices, saw the enthusiastic participation of over 275 individuals representing various subsidiaries and NGOs. Singireddy Niranjan Reddy, Minister for Agricultural Partnerships and Marketing, Government of Telangana, addressed the event.
The walkathon was jointly organized by ECHO member companies Glocal, Bayer, Syngenta, East-West Seed India, BASF Nunhems, Advanta, Seed Works and HM Clause. IT also saw the active participation of children’s rights groups, highlighting the collaborative efforts needed to combat child labor in the agricultural sector.
In his speech, the Minister said, “We must work together to eradicate the scourge of child labor in agriculture and introduce decent work standards. The Telangana government has achieved great success in addressing child labor in the state by addressing the root causes.”
