The Secunderabad District Railway Protection Force (RPF) detained three persons in two separate incidents and confiscated marijuana from them.

Hyderabad: During checks conducted during the anti-narcotics operation, teams from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Secunderabad division detained three persons at two different locations and seized marijuana from them.
The Secunderabad RPF crime prevention team inspected train No. 11020 at the Secunderabad railway station and found a suspicious person in the S1 compartment carrying a trolley case. Five packets of dried marijuana wrapped in brown plaster, each weighing about 2kg of marijuana and estimated to be worth Rs 10 lakh, were found from the trolley.
In another case, a RPF team, in conjunction with a tax team, drove through Vikarabad railway station and detained a man and a woman at Platform 2 for holding two white polythene bags , each bag contains 10 packets of marijuana. A total of 20 packets of marijuana weighing about 39.5 kg and worth Rs 3.95 lakh were seized.
In 2022, the Secunderabad branch of the Rwandan Patriotic Front seized drug products worth Rs 7.84 billion and arrested 41 people in 35 cases. In 2023, the department seized drug products worth Rs 3.48 crore and arrested 14 persons in 15 incidents.
Debashmita Chattopadhyay Banerjee, Senior Departmental Security Commissioner of Secunderabad, said: “We have stepped up checks on trains in coordination with NCB and other law enforcement agencies to crack down on drug dealers. .”
