Hyderabad: A woman who cheated others under the pretext of selling saris has been arrested by the Rachakonda Cyber Crime Police.
Sarakam Gouri Sarika Venkata Nukambikha (28) of Visakhapatnam used the pretext of selling sarees and blouses to various people Collect money and cheat them.
According to police, Sarika contacted a popular Instagram influencer and introduced herself as a widow struggling to manage her household expenses. “The person, carried away by her story, promoted Sarika’s business on her Instagram account. About 150 people ordered the product after viewing the post and made an online payment to Sarika. However, none of them received Sarika’s Assured product delivery,” DCP (criminal) B Anuradha.
Based on the victim’s complaint, the police opened a case and arrested Sarika. The official added that she defrauded the public from Rs 500,000 to Rs 100,000 in similar ways.
