Hyderabad: The undergraduate level is no longer just BA (History, Sociology and Geography), BBA Computing Applications, BCom Accounting, Finance or BSc Maths, Physics and Chemistry combined.
In the context of globalization, in order to meet the needs of the industry, traditional degree programs are undergoing major changes, providing students with diverse career options.
The Telangana State Higher Education Commission, along with universities such as Osmania University and Kakatiya University, has launched new degree sector skills board courses in the fields of BA, BBA and BSc. To name a few – BScs in Fashion Design, Performing Arts, Retail Operations, Healthcare Management, Pharmaceutical Merchandising, Fashion Design and Technology have been rolled out from this academic year.
Unlike other traditional courses, all Departmental Skills Board projects in the Department of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship incorporate apprenticeships. As part of their coursework, students are assigned to relevant industries where they acquire the necessary skills in addition to being paid Rs 6,000 to Rs 10,000 per month for their internship.
Some of these new courses are already offered at the state’s 36 government colleges and 30 private degree colleges. Students can enroll for these courses in the ongoing Telangana Degree Online Services (DOST) 2023 phase 3 consultation.
In the DOST 2023 Phase 1 and Phase 2 tutoring, the BBA Retail, BBA E-Commerce Operations, and BBA Logistics and other departmental skills committee courses have aroused great repercussions, and almost all seats are occupied. “Health care management, retail operations and tourism management projects have also been included in the DOST Phase 3 consultation,” officials said.
Meanwhile, the last date for DOST Phase 3 registration (fee of Rs 400) is July 14, the last date for exercising the online option is July 15, and the date for provisional seat allocation is July 20.
Candidates who have been allocated seats must register online from July 21 to 24. Candidates who have confirmed seats in the first, second, and third sessions of counseling must report to the allocated colleges from July 21 to 24. Semester 1 will start on 24 July.
