Kanpur: The All India Chess Federation (AICF) on Sunday announced a 10-member Asian Games delegation scheduled to depart from Hangzhou, China on September 23, led by Asian Games gold medalist Koneru Humpy and bronze medalist Dronavali Harika lead the way.
The Indian delegation was announced at AICF’s annual general meeting here on Sunday.
In the team competition in standard format, all GMs D. Gukesh, Vidit Gujrathi, P. Harikrishna, Arjun Erigaisi and R. Praggnanandhaa have been selected. On the other hand, Humpy, Harika, R. Vaishali, Vantika Aggarwal and B. Savita Shri were selected for the women’s team for the event. Hampi won the women’s individual and mixed team gold medals at the 2006 Doha Asian Games, and Harika won the individual bronze medal at the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games.
In the individual competition, which will be played in a rapid format, Vidit and Arjun will be selected for the men’s competition, while Humpy and Harika will compete in the women’s competition. AICF president Sanjay Kapoor, who presided over the plenary session, said the Indian Chess League could finally become a reality and announced a tender for it. Speaking of this landmark decision, the head of the AICF told IANS: “We will call for bids within 10 days.” Leadership, to operate as a professional institution.
This committee will oversee all important affairs of AICF. “It (the management committee) will be chaired by the president himself. He will appoint all the professionals and they will talk directly to him,” said the AICF chief. These are people in their field. professionals, so they can professionally manage the federation.” At the meeting, it was planned to draw up a development plan for all countries, in this regard, all AICF affiliates will receive 700,000 a year in addition to 200 chess sets rupee.
In addition, AICF also decided to hire professional agencies to manage revenue and introduce more sponsorships.
