Fort: Two men drowned while washing their motorcycles in a river in Chhattisgarh’s Durg district, police said on Friday.
An official said the incident happened on Thursday when a group of men went to the Tandoori River for a picnic.
He said Mithlesh Soni (19) and Chumman Thakur (20) and their three friends, all locals from Anda village, had gone to the river.
Sonny took his motorcycle to an anikute by the river and started cleaning it, only to slip and fall in the water. Thakur also had trouble finding Sony, the official said.
He said police and state disaster relief forces had rushed to the scene and launched a rescue operation.
With the help of a 14-member team and two boats, the body was brought up about 25 meters from Anikute this morning, the official said, adding that a case of accidental death had been registered.
