The gifts came after French President Emmanuel Macron earlier awarded Modi the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor, France’s highest honor among military or civilian orders.
Modi presented French Prime Minister Elisabeth Born with a marble-inlaid workbench.
Officials said the plinth marble came from the Rajasthan town of Makrana, which is known for its high-quality marble.
The Prime Minister presented a hand-woven Kashmiri silk rug to the Speaker of the French National Assembly, Yael Braun-Pivy, while the President of the French Senate, Gerard Lacher, presented Ambawari, a hand-carved elephant in sandalwood.
