Lord: Navi Mumbai police in Maharashtra state have opened a case in which a security guard was injured when he stopped four men from beating a dog, an official said on Saturday.
He said the security guard was on night duty with another guard at the main entrance of a business in MIDC in Turge when he was attacked.
Four men showed up near the gate around 5 a.m. Wednesday, causing a dog kept by company security to bark at them, the official said. The four then grabbed the dog and began beating it with an iron bar, officers from the Turb Police Department said, citing complaints.
Two security guards rushed to the four to stop them from beating the dog.
The dogs continued to bark despite the four retreating, and one of them picked up a rock, threw it at the gate and ran away. The stone hit a security guard in the forehead, injuring him. The guard was taken to hospital and police recorded his statement.
“A case has been registered against four unidentified individuals. We are scanning CCTV camera footage in the area to identify the perpetrators. No arrests have been made yet,” the official said.
