San Francisco: Threads has released a new update to its iOS app that includes a Follow tab on the activity feed, translations, and more.
In a post on Threads, Instagram software engineer Cameron Roth said: “The new @threadsapp iOS update is out today! Check out what we’ve worked so hard to prepare.”
In addition to the following tabs and translations, the new update also provides users with the ability to subscribe to unfollowed users and open the Instagram followers list on the app.
According to Roth, the update also improves activity feed scrolling and loading.
With the update, users will also get “clickable retweeter tags” and “follow+ on post reply pages,” he added.
The company also rolled out some minor crash fixes.
Ross further mentioned: “You may need to restart the app to see some of this content, or wait until the end of the day! We use a flag system provided by the server, it may take a while to fully release.”
The Verge reports that the “Following” tab the company is rolling out to iOS users isn’t the Follow-only feed users have been asking for.
This tab only allows users to view a list of users who have followed them recently.
The company released the latest update to its iOS app last week, adding the ability to use the app on iOS 17 without crashing and expanding images on profiles.
Additionally, it makes ultra-high photos fully visible, and also improves scroll removal handling on profiles.
Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, recently announced a Twitter-like rate limit on Threads due to “an increase in spam attacks” on the platform.
“Hundreds of thousands of people are now coming back to Threads every day,” Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced Tuesday, “far exceeding our expectations.”
