These wilderness areas and waters are critical to maintaining ecological vitality…

Therefore, rewilding is considered a restorative move. The aim is to bring back the lost wilderness, Memories of the Wilderness, a tribute to Jack London’s classic. In this broad theme of reminiscing about the wilderness, expressions of human guilt, human danger, and human recovery abound.

Of course, as anti-extinction projects go, ethical questions also arise. Hopes for a rewilded country, or even the planet, could be problematic as we bring long-ago species back into biomes that were foreign to those species.
