New Delhi: Meta-owned Instagram came back online after a brief global outage on Tuesday, with users witnessing errors in which the app would not refresh, while some other apps went blank.
According to DownDetector, a website outage tracking portal, more than 59,000 users reported outages.
About 85 percent reported problems with the app, 10 percent had problems using the website, and 6 percent had problems with the Instagram feed.
“Every time I launch the app, it crashes, leaves my feed blank, and my messages disappear. This happens to my personal account, which is linked to my business account,” said one user.
“No matter what I do, I can’t access my IG account or the web on my computer or phone. I’ve been trying to do this for a while. It’s very annoying,” wrote another user.
Later, #Instagramdown also started trending on Twitter (now X) after users witnessed the outage.
“Instagram is down, almost gave me a heart attack, thought they shut down my account #instagramdown,” one user tweeted.
“Insta is down after turning Wi-Fi and data on and off for the 50th time #instagramdown #instagram,” another user said.
Meta had no immediate comment on the cause of the outage.
Thousands of Instagram users from around the world reported problems last October, locking users out and notifying many of them that “we’ve suspended your account.”
Some users reported being unable to appeal Instagram’s decision, resulting in their accounts being deactivated and their emails and passwords nowhere to be found.
