New Delhi: Dev Uthani Ekadashi, also known as Prabodhini Ekadashi or Dev Uthhana Ekadashi, is one of the most important occasions in Hinduism.
It is believed that Lord Vishnu woke up on the auspicious day of Ekadashi in the month of Kartik. It is being celebrated today – especially in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
According to Hindu scriptures, Lord Vishnu married Tulsi, a plant that is said to be the incarnation of a woman named “Vinda”. Hence, the wedding ceremony known as Tulsi Vivah is performed by devotees, which is said to bring about a happy marriage.

On this day, people worship Lord Vishnu and wear white or yellow clothes. They offer divine fruit and sweet flowers. Many also take a holy bath and recite mantras. Some people even like to observe Devuthani Ekadashi fasting. The fast of Dev Uthani Ekadashi begins the day before Ekadashi, at Dashami, and continues until Dwadashi after Parana Muhurat.
Happy Defuthani Ekadashi to everyone.
