Chennai: Former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has referred the Madras High Court to the Madras High Court for contempt proceedings against IPS officer G. Sampath Kumar, The grounds were his alleged statements against the Supreme Court and the Madras High Court regarding match-fixing.

The request was included in a hearing on Friday. However, it was not entertained until the end of the day.

Dhoni filed a civil lawsuit in 2014 to restrict then-Police Commissioner Kumar from making any comments about him or linking him to match-fixing allegations.

The Madras High Court issued an interim order on 18 March 2014 prohibiting the official from making any comments on Dhoni.

The cricketer said the official had allegedly filed an affidavit with the Supreme Court addressing the judiciary and senior lawyers representing the state.

Dhoni obtained the consent of the Attorney General of Tamil Nadu, R. Shanmugasundaram, to file a contempt of court application and contested the case in the Madras High Court.
