San Francisco: Chipmaker Qualcomm has confirmed that the upcoming Galaxy S23 series will feature Snapdragon processors globally.
Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones have traditionally used Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset, which is available in select markets like the US, while others use an Exynos variant.
According to Android Central, CFO Akash Palkhiwala confirmed during Qualcomm’s recent investor call that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23 models will feature Snapdragon chipsets globally.
Palkhiwala also noted that 75% of the Galaxy S22 models on the market are powered by Snapdragon chips.
Qualcomm President and CEO Cristiano Amon backed Palkhiwala, saying that future flagship Galaxy phones around the world will use Snapdragon chips.
“On the handset side, we entered into a new multi-year agreement with Samsung to expand the use of the Snapdragon platform in future high-end Samsung Galaxy products around the world,” Amon was quoted as saying.
Samsung and Qualcomm have reportedly signed a multi-year agreement to use Snapdragon chipsets in upcoming Galaxy flagship models.
An unlocked US version of the Galaxy S23+ running on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor appeared on Geekbench shortly after Qualcomm announced its partnership with Samsung.
According to Android Central, the phone comes with at least 8 GB of RAM and runs on Android 13, according to benchmark results.
