Faruhabad: A woman and her lover were allegedly killed by her brother and their bodies were dumped in a sewer in Faruhabad, Uttar Pradesh, in an alleged honour killing case, police said on Sunday.
After the incident came to light, the accused Neetu, a resident of Rajepur Saraimeda here, went to the city police station in the early hours of Sunday and confessed to killing his sister Shivani (23). ) and her lover Ramkaran, 25, they said.
Police said Shivani’s family disapproved of her relationship with Ramkaran.
On Saturday and Sunday nights, Nitu hacked Shivani and Ramkaran with sharp weapons. The bodies were later recovered from the sewers, they said.
They added that an FIR had been registered in the matter based on a complaint lodged by Ramkaran’s father Mahaveer Jatav.
Police chief Ashok Kumar Meena said the matter is under investigation.
