Academicians and intellectuals from various state universities came together to co-write an open letter with eight demands to Prime Minister Modi to resolve the outstanding issues of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act. They cautioned that all forked promises, including a coach plant in Kazipet, a steel plant in Bayyaram, a tribal university and incentives promised to industries that set up units in the state, have not been fulfilled.

The academicians questioned the center’s decision to cancel the IT investment zone promised to Telangana and then approve 22 software technology parks to other states. They point out that the federal government has not allocated any new state-level educational institutions, medical schools, or even Navodaya Vidyalayas in the state. They demanded that the central government, in addition to establishing new software technology parks, should revive ITIR or approve an IT package similar to that of the state. They also hope to establish new national educational institutions in the state.

Remembering their contribution to Telangana, the intellectuals wanted the union government to be able to procure the paddy produced in the state without any discrimination. They denounced the BJP for abusing constitutional institutions and investigative bodies rather than the media to spread its agenda and sow community divisions, and they urged the prime minister to uphold the country’s diverse and multicultural identity and national integrity. They also demanded that Modi take immediate steps to strengthen the Indian economy.
