Hyderabad: To focus on providing appropriate treatment for eye problems caused by corneal diseases, the city-based LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) inaugurated the Shantilal Shanghvi Corneal Institute on Saturday at its campus.
The Corneal Institute, established under the chairmanship of former Chief Justice of India NV Ramana and the National Science Chair of the Government of India, Prof. Partha Pratim Majumder, will also work in the field of preventing avoidable corneal blindness and resulting resulting in vision loss.
In recognition of the support provided by the Shantilal Shanghvi Foundation, LVPEI’s Cornea Research Institute has been named “Shantilal Shanghvi Corneal Research Institute”.
The center was inaugurated in the presence of Dilip Shanghvi, Director of the Chantilly Shanghvi Foundation, and LVPEI’s senior leadership team.
Dr. Pravin Vaddavalli, Director of LVPEI Shantilal Shanghvi Cornea Research Institute, said: “The center will not only focus on caring for patients at all levels of eye care, but will also create and disseminate knowledge directly through the LVPEI network.”
