Hyderabad: KL Deemed to be University has partnered with Purdue University to launch a community service program, Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS) at its Hyderabad branch, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between two reputed education centres.
EPICS, a proprietary program of Purdue University’s EPICS, is a unique program where teams of undergraduate students are designing, building and deploying real-world systems that provide engineering-based solutions to local community service and educational organizations.
To facilitate linkages with local communities, including villages, KL Deemed-to-be University initiated the program to identify issues faced by local communities, followed by detailed surveys with community partners to provide Solutions Swetcha, Redcross and Ekalavya Foundations.

From agriculture, children’s education, women’s empowerment, transportation to sanitation, the students’ thorough investigations brought to the forefront different issues facing local people.
