Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Thursday expressed confidence that the soon-to-be-built structure will set new benchmarks once completed
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Thursday referred to Dr BR Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat’s new complex as the result of the sacrifices of Telangana martyrs, expressing confidence that the upcoming building, once completed, will set a new benchmark for other states and reflect the self-esteem of Telangana.
The Chief Minister inspected the construction works that are about to be completed, expressing his satisfaction with the progress. He inspected the recently installed dome, the wall cladding done with Dholpur stone and the facade of the main entrance etc.
He walked around the Secretariat building and inspected the tiniest details pertaining to the entrance gates, compound walls, railings, staircases, lawns, fountains, parking lots and other wartime-completed features. He issued several instructions to working agencies and relevant officials.
During his visit, Chandrashekar Rao expressed satisfaction with the construction of the conference hall for ministers, secretaries and other staff, providing a pleasant atmosphere and enabling them to work more efficiently. He made proposals to improve the interior facilities of the cafeteria, canteen and conference hall.
He was impressed by the newly installed dome atop the main Secretariat building and appreciated the strategic placement of elevators at various locations for the convenience of staff and visitors.

The Chief Minister also visited the helipad worksite within the Secretariat building and asked the relevant officials to properly proceed with the construction. He inspected the security room used for record keeping, security details including the placement of closed-circuit cameras, and conference halls for domestic and international delegates.
When construction is complete, Telangana State Secretariat will be the only building in the country to use the most Dholpur stone among buildings constructed in the past 100 years. Following the lines of the Parliament building, terracotta wall cladding was carried out inside and outside the Secretariat building. The Chief Minister made several proposals for interior decoration, furniture and other beautification works.
In his speech, Chandrashekar Rao said that the Telangana Martyrs Memorial is being constructed opposite the State Secretariat to honor the martyrs who gave their lives for the cause of Telangana.
He hoped that the government will continue to operate in line with the wishes of Dr BR Ambedkar and the Telangana martyrs to ensure a better future for future generations.
“The State Secretariat building was named after Dr BR Ambedkar to provide good governance to the people and ensure the welfare of the poor and other vulnerable groups. The tallest statue of Dr BR Ambedkar was also installed next to the Secretariat to remind the people of the and officials to discharge their duties responsibly and effectively,” he said.
