IAS official banned from election duty for sharing his post on Instagram

Now, the committee has taken notice of Sh. Abhishek Singh, IAS (UP: 2011) used the social media platform “Instagram” to share his position/join as a general observer and used his official position as a publicity stunt

New Delhi: On Friday, the Election Commission removed an IAS official from election duties after he shared his position as a general observer on social media.

“The Commission has now come to the attention of Sh. Abhishek Singh, IAS (UP: 2011) for using the social media platform ‘Instagram’ to share his position/join as a general observer and to use his official position as a publicity stunt,” the EC said in its order said in.

The Commission has taken the matter very seriously and as a result, Abhishek Singh (UP: 2011) of the IAS has been immediately relieved of his duties as a general observer and prohibited from performing any election-related duties until further orders are given by the Commission express.

Earlier, the committee had appointed Singh as observer-general for Gujarat’s Ahmedabad district assembly constituency 49-Bapunagar and 56-Asarwa.
