Amaravati: Three people, including a couple, were killed in a car accident in the Kadapa district of YSR in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.
The accident occurred when a truck collided with an auto rickshaw coming from the opposite direction on the Kadapa-Tadipatri highway near Chennareddypalle village.
The auto rickshaw driver and two passengers were killed in the accident. Dastagiri (45) and his wife Saraswati (35) died at the scene. Injured tricycle driver Prem Kumar (32) died en route to Proddatur when he was transferred by ambulance to hospital.
The couple, who are from Dattapuram village in the Kondapuram mandal, returned home after visiting a neighboring village for Saraswati treatment.
After receiving the report, the police rushed to the scene of the accident. A police officer said the truck driver lost control of the vehicle and slammed into an oncoming car.
The police opened a case and launched an investigation.
