History of World Television Day:
The first electronic television was invented in 1927 by American inventor Philo Taylor Farnsworth. Charles Francis Jenkins’ first mechanical TV station, W3XK, premiered a year later. World Television Day was established on November 21 by United Nations General Assembly resolution 51/205 on December 17, 1996.
Realizing that television is increasingly influencing our decision-making, we do just that. We can watch everything going on in the world on TV from the comfort of our living room.
The first World Television Forum was organized by the United Nations on 21-22 November 1996. Leading media figures gather to discuss how important television has become in our changing environment. They also discussed how to make their collaboration better.
