Hyderabad: On Wednesday, the income tax department continued to search the homes and offices of Telangana Labor and Employment Minister Malla Reddy and her family for the second consecutive day.
Simultaneously the residences of the Minister, his son, son-in-law and other family members, as well as senior officials of various agencies run by the Malaredi group were searched.
More than 50 teams are searching various locations in Hyderabad and the neighboring Medchal Malkajgiri district.
According to reports, about 200 IT personnel from the tax evasion department have been involved in the search since early Tuesday. According to reports, the search seized 8 million rupees in cash and some important documents.
IT is likely to make a statement on the search and seizure Wednesday night.
According to sources, different establishments run by Malla Reddy have been raided on suspicion of tax evasion. There have also been allegations that convenor places at Malaladi’s Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy and Engineering were improperly allocated. IT officials are investigating the bank accounts used for the seat transactions.
IT detectives are searching the residence of the minister, his sons Mahendra Reddy and Bhadra Reddy, son-in-law M. Rajasekhar Reddy and brother Gopal Reddy, who is the chairman of the CMR Group agency.
The IT department is investigating allegations that Malla Reddy and her family have invested in real estate over the past few years.
Malla Reddy owns Malla Reddy University and runs several professional colleges, and has reportedly invested in shopping malls, gas stations, and purchased land in various locations.
Members of the minister’s family hold prominent positions in the educational associations that run these institutions. Malla Reddy’s wife, Kalpana Reddy, is the Vice-President of CMR Educational Association, Malla Reddy Educational Association, Chandramma Educational Association and St. Martin’s Educational Association.
