New Delhi: Black Friday is the perfect way to kick off your Christmas shopping while keeping your budget in check with incredible discounts on products. After Thanksgiving, Black Friday is celebrated around the world. This time, it happened on November 25th.

The History and Significance of Black Friday:

In the week leading up to Thanksgiving, ads for stores, e-commerce sites and major brands fill our screens.

The history of Black Friday is shrouded in countless myths. Many believe that Black Friday has earned its title because shoppers in stores can score deep discounts and no longer record losses. People think that large trades lead them to make huge profits because gains are recorded in black and losses are recorded in red in accounting records.

The name comes from the Philadelphia Police Department. According to reports, Black Friday has nothing to do with shopping. The term “Black Friday” was first used by the Philadelphia Police Department in the 1950s to describe the chaos that followed Thanksgiving. Back then, a football game would draw hundreds of suburban tourists into town, a problem for the police.

At the time, the phrase was still used by many metropolitan businesses to describe long lines outside stores and frenzied shopping. In 1961, the day was originally known as “Big Friday” by business owners. But it never worked out. In 1985, the term became more and more common in the United States. After 2013, Black Friday became popular all over the world.

Before the Christmas and New Year holidays, people try to get discounts on Black Friday. Even on Thanksgiving, some retailers offer discounts to customers. Online buyers don’t even have to wait past midnight to start buying.

Shoppers and store owners alike are in for this Black Friday.
