Peddapalli police launch digital lessons for children of brick kiln workers

There are about 500 schoolchildren in 85 brick kiln units, including 30 each in Peddapalli and Ratnapur and 25 in the Sultanabad area.

Pedapari: To foster educational interest among the children of brick kiln workers, Peddapalli Police has launched a digital curriculum with a focus on developing the children’s English language skills.

Peddapalli DCP Chennuri Rupesh behind the concept has started consultations with owners of brick kiln units and held meetings with owners of all units.

Almost all workers working in brick kiln units in the region are from Odisha. There are about 500 schoolchildren in 85 brick kiln units, including 30 each in Peddapalli and Ratnapur and 25 in the Sultanabad area. Although there is a construction site school, the children are not attending classes on time, according to DCP, who recently visited several brick kiln units.

In order to attract children’s attention and cultivate their interest in education, the police decided to use digital methods to teach with the help of animated pictures. For this purpose, a classroom will be built covering two to three brick kiln units. If there is a large unit, a separate classroom will be developed and beautiful pictures will be painted on the walls of the school. Each classroom will be assigned a TV, playing pre-loaded content. In addition to regular lessons, nursery rhymes and interesting English stories are played on the TV.

Speaking of Telangana today, DCP Rupesh said that although there is a construction site school, the children do not attend classes regularly. After sitting in school for a while, the children began to approach their parents who worked in brick making and help them with their work.

To capture their attention and keep the children seated in the classroom, they decided to use digital methods to teach nursery rhymes and other stories. Also, they place more emphasis on developing their children’s English language skills because their parents are happy if their wards speak English. Meanwhile, children can easily learn any difficult subject if it is explained with the help of animated pictures, he said.

Most brick kiln owners are ready to offer arrangements, he said.
