In a video posted on Twitter by a reporter, a woman in a sari can be seen sitting in a gold shop. She also wears a pair of goggles, making it difficult to make out her face.
As she talks to the man at the counter, she slowly closes a box containing a gold necklace and places another open box on top. She puts both boxes on her lap, but leaves only the open box, and effectively steals the chain from the closed box.
Many users who saw the video said that if the entire incident had not been recorded by CCTV cameras, no one who was there would have known the truth.
According to the tweet, the incident took place in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Some netizens believe that the woman must be a seasoned theft veteran. Others call it pure talent.
