Hyderabad: The income tax authority issued notices to 10 more people to appear in court after searching the homes of relatives, acquaintances and educational institutions run by the family of Labor and Employment Minister Ch Malla Reddy.
After last week’s raids, IT officials have issued notices to about 15 people instructing them to appear before them in connection with an investigation into the seizure of cash and other documents during the raids. A total of more than 10 people have now been called to the IT department for investigation.
On Monday, some relatives of the minister, including his youngest son Ch Bhadra Reddy, joined the investigation and submitted documents requested by the authorities. IT officials recorded statements by Ch Bhadra Reddy and Marri Rajashekhar Reddy and others who emerged.
The sources said the IT authority was focusing on deals related to the allocation of medical seats at the medical school run by the minister’s family. The survey is expected to continue through the first week of December.
Coming out of the IT office, Ch Bhadra Reddy said they had answered all the questions raised by the IT officials and submitted the relevant documents requested by them. They told us that if an investigation was required, they would call us again and ask us to submit details in the format they prescribed, he added.
