#Jiodown trending on Twitter as users across India face internet outages

Reliance Jio customers are frustrated as the telecom operator faces outages this morning. From 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., users will not be able to make calls and send or receive text messages for three hours, but will have access to mobile data.

Hyderabad: Reliance Jio customers are frustrated as the telecom operator faces outages this morning. From 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., users will not be able to make calls and send or receive text messages for three hours, but will have access to mobile data. Due to the network outage, only phone calls and SMS services were affected.

Some users have turned to WhatsApp calling and other alternatives for making calls and sending messages. Most affected are users who have enabled two-factor authentication on various platforms, including online banking services, as they cannot obtain one-time passwords.

Frustrated users took to the social media site to report their outrage, and soon the hashtag “Jiodown” started trending on Twitter. The reason for the service disruption remains unknown as Reliance Jio has yet to respond to the issue.

Jio users have faced the same problem many times in the past. Other telecom service providers have faced customer wrath over network outages before.

“No sign of volte since morning so can’t make any calls. Is this how you plan to provide 5g service when normal calls are a problem (sic),” wrote one user.

“Jio network down? Can’t make calls,” wrote another.
