Hyderabad: Industrialist Gautam Adani won the bid to rebuild the Dharavi slum in Mumbai, Maharashtra state, on Monday. The so-called largest slum in Asia is home to millions of Mumbai people.
It’s also largely seen as a hotbed of the ghetto’s unique culture, home to street entrepreneurs and the melting pot of the country’s growing hip-hop scene.

The song “Jai Ho” from the movie is still the audience’s favorite. The film revolves around a boy from the slums who enters the “Kaun Banega Crorepati?” show and wins the Rs 2 crore grand prize. It shows the dark side of slums controlled by corrupt elements.

The musical film revolves around a young dreamer, Murad, played by Ranveer Singh, who rose to fame for rapping about the social challenges he faced. Directed by Zoya Akhtar, the film attempts to show what life is like in the slums of Dharavi – from ugly quarrels between parents to passionate love between the main characters. The songs in the film have become a voice for several other young people living in similar socioeconomic conditions as Murad. The film is also the country’s official Oscar nomination.

The latest MX Player series revolves around mafia leader Thalaivan, played by actor Suniel Shetty, who made his debut in “Dharavi Bank”. Thalaivan heads the criminal syndicate Dharavi Bank and rules over Dharavi, a Mumbai slum. CM Janvi Surve sees his control of the slums as a threat, and he appoints a brave officer to overthrow Thalaivan’s empire. The response to the first season was good, and the trailer for the second season was also released.

This film starring Rajinikanth is about how the mafia makes life difficult for slum dwellers. The protagonist Kari Karan is like a godfather who often protects people from the slums. Released in 2018, the film also stars Huma Qureshi and Nana Patekar in prominent roles.
